11 Stunning destinations in Asia that will make you want to elope

Destination elopement

Asia, one of the best elopement destination for couples.

If you are one of those who love to live an adventurous life, then convince your partner, pack your bags, and fly away to some of the most charming places in Asia without telling anyone.

There are some epic destinations waiting for you. In fact, you can go the distance and come back as a married couple.

As an adventure elopement photographer, I'm always eager to be a part of this type of story.

Can you imagine how romantic it is to exchange your vows right at the white beach of Da Nang in Vietnam with the deep blue sea as the background! It's a dream come true for many.

This time, I would recommend some epic destinations in Asia that will surely make you think, "Why not?" The stunning landscapes will make you want to come back to these destinations over and over.

11. Mount Kinabalu, Malaysia

Mount Kinabalu, Malaysia rises a majestic 4,095m (13,435 feet) above sea level and is a permanent backdrop to anyone who is visiting the Kadamaian, Kota Belud District on the West Coast of Sabah, Malaysia.

It is an imposing site, being the highest peak between the Himalayas and New Guinea, however, a good level of fitness will enable visitors to enjoy a magnificently breathtaking view, also it's not necessary to climb, you can enjoy amazing park around and view on the mountain!

It has also become one of the most popular wedding destinations in Malaysia, due in part to the magnifient natural vistas - but also because of the fact that there are numerous fantastic hotels in the area (for example Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort & Spa which is set in a nature reserve or the magnificent Sutera Harbour Resort), which are the perfect venues to both host a wedding - or celebrate with a reception after a ceremony on the slopes of the Mountain when guests can enjoy the famed hospitality (and cuisine) of this part of Malaysia.

The Mountain also provides a setting for exceptional wedding photography - with those images sure to provide memories of the happy day for years to come.

The mist shrouded heights of Mount Kinabalu are the perfect setting for tying the knot, providing an awe inspiring backdrop to a day of celebration, love and togetherness.

The best months to visit mt.Kinabalu are February, March and April the dry season.

10. Bagan, Myanmar

Bagan was the first capital of the Myanmar Empire and is now South-east Asia's richest archaeological site. This place is insanely ethereal with far-off feeling places you could have ever dreamt of.

Contemporary elopement typically encapsulates just about anything. You can enjoy the sunrise of your relationship quite literally by having your elopement ceremony in a floating hot air balloon.

The silhouettes of mountain ranges and mountains are made even more beautiful with whimsical, floating hot ballons. It's a little unorthodox from any wedding practice, but there's no better way of kickstarting your journey together.

Talk about starting things out on a high!

You will surely want to savor this experience, which is why you need to have a photographer in this adventure.

You don't want to forget the exquisite backdrop Bagan will offer for your elope ceremony. The best time to elope is from November all through to May when the rainfall is limited. Bagan Myanmar is the perfect place for a destination elopement.

9. Mt. Kailash, Tibet

Forget about the Indian folklore that surrounds Mt. Kailash in Tibet, just soak in the colorful hue that Mt. Kailash presents. It's absolutely majestic.

Now it depends whether you want to elope with tons of clothes or just in tank tops or t-shirts. Winters are terrible in Mt. Kailash. It's risky and you may reach a point of no return. I wouldn't suggest that even if you are ready.

Moreover, you won't be able to enjoy the true beauty of Mt. Kailash if you visit during winters.

Summer is the ideal time to visit this destination. The snow starts to melt and the skies remain clear. You can literally see four colors as the sun starts to set: blue, white, green, and orange.

I feel this is the perfect setting for your elopement experience. With the blue sky on top, and snow-capped Mt. Kailash in the background, there's hardly any scenery that can sum up your beautiful relationship.

Couples who love to travel and trek together can enjoy the barren, steep plateaus, green valleys, and rocky passes.

Although the hike is somewhat challenging, you will love every bit of the view of Mt. Kailash once you reach the end of the Tibetan plateau.

8. Angkor Wat, Cambodia

Cambodia, Angkor Wat

Angkor Wat is one of the most well known archeological sites in the world. Its magnificent ancient temples are breathtaking and the magnificence of these 13th century ruins are still alive with mystery and beauty.

This makes Angkor Wat one of the most desirable weeding destinations in the world. The couple can choose from Angkor Wat itself or a variety of other temples in the area such as Banteay Samre, Bayon, Thomeanon, Ta Phrom, Bapoun or Wat Atvea.

For the more adventurous there is the remote vine bedecked wonder of Phnom Kulen deep in the jungle.

However, the ancient wonder of the destination does not stop the bridal couple and their entourage from enjoying the pleasures of modern life.

After the completion of the ceremony wedding planners and event organizers will ensure that a dinner and reception at one of the temples delivers memories that will last a lifetime.

Accommodation can be arranged at nearby five star resorts or at private villas.

For a mystical experience in one of the most famous settings in the world - consider Angkor Wat, it is a wedding experience decision that will be forever treasured.

The best time to visit Angkor Wat in Cambodia is during the dry season from late November to early April

7. Bali, Indonesia

Bali elopement

It's hard to describe the beauty of the place that people call the Land of the Gods.

Whether it's the lush terraced rice fields or the natural beauty of the looming volcanoes, there's something charming about Bali that makes it one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

There may be tons of beaches in the US, but if you truly want to enjoy the aqua-blue seas, then you must elope to Bali right away.

The white beaches with rich-blue sky and crystal-clear green sea provide the appropriate background for couple photos.

I've visited Bali twice now, and I can safely say that your trip is going to be epic in every way. How about we do a photoshoot while you and your partner ride a banana boat?

Or maybe travel across the ocean at a lightning-fast speed on a jet ski? I'm up for any challenge. In fact, the crazier the better.

The reason why I picked Bali is because of its diverse lifestyle. On one half, the city falls asleep almost as the clock strikes 9. But on the other half, the evening starts at 9 o' clock at night.

With discos serving the ideal nightlife in Bali, your trip will be memorable once you get used to both these types of lifestyles.

The best time to visit Bali is between April and October, the island's dry season.

6. Pangkor, Malaysia

Malasia wedding

Crazy elopement stories don't necessarily mean you need to go on adventurous rides and puke from the sky. The fact that you and your partner had the will to elope and get married in a different continent is a story worth telling to your grandkids.

One such location in Asia is Pangkor, Malaysia. It may not have the heart-throbbing rides or loud discos, but the serenity of the place would make you want to absorb nature at its fullest.

One of the reasons I'm recommending Pangkor is it has tons of virgin beaches. If you are one of those who want to stay away from the busy city streets, then Pangkor should serve as your ideal elopement destination.

The best time to visit Pangkor Laut Island is in January and February, and from June to September.

5. Baa Atoll, Maldives

 Baa Atoll, Maldives

Like Pangkor, Baa Atoll is another heavenly place on earth. It is truly epic when you consider its picture-perfect landscape.

If you want to escape the politics and 24 x 7 traffic in the US, and elope to a destination that provides peace right from day one, then you must visit Baa Atoll with your partner.

The dreamy atoll of Baa is magical. You can literally see the colors of the sea changing almost every hour.

With these beautiful places waiting for you and your special someone, it's high time you plan your elopement.

The best time to visit the Maldives– is between November and April. The high season falls between December and March.

4. Phi Phi Island, Thailand

Phi Phi Island, Thailand destination wedding

Thailand's Phi Phi Islands, in the Krabi province are only a short boat trip (or helicopter ride for those who want a bird's eye view of this magnificent archipelago) from well known Phuket - but there are many who believe that Phi Phi outshines its neighbor in sheer unspoiled beauty.

It was here that Leonardo DiCaprio swam in azure waters - and the scenery of Phi Phi was at once catapulted to the foreefront of the world's imagination.

It has since become one of the most popular settings for those who wish to elope and be married in a place that truly represents tropical paradise.

It is not only the unspoiled virgin white beaches, warm waters and the magnificent sunsets that draw those wishing to tie the knot.

There are a variety of wedding planners who specilize in providing services in the traditional Thai style - or Western ceremonies (non-denominational or a wonderful combination of Thai and Western weddings are also a possibility) - and the variety of destinations and possibilities on one of the many islands that make up Kho Phi Phi means that there is a setting that will suit the needs of every couple.

After the ceremony the couple can celebrate on the sands before retiring to any one of the incredible resorts and hotels to spend a night of wedded bliss, once again the choice is overwhelming.

If you want to celebrate love and commitment there can be few places as beautiful as Phi Phi to do so - book your place in paradise between November and April - when the islands are at their most stunning.

The best time to visit Phi Phi Island between November and April.

3. Halong Bay, Vietnam

Halong Bay Elopement

When it comes to some of the most beautiful places in Vietnam, Halong Bay tops the list because of its scenic beauty.

It consists of a cluster of limestone islands that have now become UNESCO's World Heritage Site.

If you are planning to elope with your partner I would recommend Halong Bay any given day. This is one of the most mesmerizing places on Earth.

You can go spelunking in the caves or spend an entire day with your partner on a cruise.

What to do in Halong Bay?

Halong Bay wedding

The place itself is so beautiful that you would want to sit and spend an entire day on the top of one of the limestone caves.

But if you want to do something romantic, you can rent an entire boat and go on a cruise to some of the nearest islands, such as Cat Ba Island or Bon Hon Island.

Apart from renting a boat, you can also explore the underwater delights of Halong Bay.

Halong Bay is undoubtedly an ideal place to elope with your partner.

2. Ayutthaya, Thailand

Ayutthaya, Thailand elopement destination

A wedding is the beginning of a couples journey together - to building a history - and where better to do this than in the shadows of one of Thailand's most historical sites, a site that is filled with ancient temples set amidst the bustling town of Ayutthaya - Thailand's former capital.

The site of these temples is Ayutthaya Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site -and it is here where couples choose to tie the knot among the magnificent ruins of four temples – Wat Phra Ram, Wat Phra Si Sanphet, Wat Ratchaburana or Wat Mahathat.

The backdrop of the temples is perfect for wedding photgraphs that will provide fond memories of a wedding in this magical part of Thailand - however Ayutthaya has much more to offer the nuptual couple and their guests.

It plays host to a variety of excellent hotels such as the highly regarded hotels such as Sala Ayutthaya with its in house spa or the Pludhaya Resort & Spa, which is located in in the Ayutthaya Historical Park in close proximity to Wat Ratchaburana.

Wedding photographs at the temple can be followed by a romantic dinner for the newlyweds and plenty of accommodation options for the rest of the party.

Ayutthaya will provide everything to make that special day live on in memory for a lifetime - it is a place that is simply unforgettable.

November-January is the best time to visit Ayutthaya
